An auto parts supplier in northwest Indiana has put faith in Lean Six Sigma, with three of its leaders gaining their yellow belt certifications recently, including the company president. According to a recent report from the Times Media Company, three members of management from Contract Services Group opted to take the training. The hope is that the Lean Six Sigma approach could bring to the company improved efficiency, continued reduction in process costs, less waste, increased customer satisfaction and the increased reliability of the products and services that the company offers.

In addition to seating sub-assemblies, the company also does auto parts quality inspections and offers a variety of docking and warehousing services. The company is based in the northwest Indiana town of Hammond.

A professional who is certified in the Lean Six Sigma principles at the yellow belt level is one who is well versed on the basics of Lean Six Sigma. However, as a IASSC accredited training organization, the Pyzdek Institute offers similar training at the white belt level. The institute also offers green and black belt certifications. Unlike martial arts, it is not necessary to begin at the white belt and work your way up. Lean Six Sigma certification training is available at any level and which level you choose depends on the amount of training you want to undertake as well as the size of your team and the size of the improvement projects you plan to implement.
