The first certification that clients receive is the Lean Six Sigma White Belt. This is given to a professional who is familiar with the Lean Six Sigma basic principles and vocabulary and has completed four hours of online training. The improvement projects have impacted on the White Belt professional who participates on these projects as a team member.

The second certification is the Yellow Belt, which is given after completing 40 hours of online training and passing a comprehensive timed online exam. The Yellow Belt supports improvement projects as part of a team and conducts small projects on a part-time basis. Besides, the professional fully understands all the aspects within the D-M-C phase.

The third certification is the Green Belt, which is given after an individual completes 100 hours of online training, homework assignments, a comprehensive timed online exam, and a real-world project presentation to a Pyzdek Institute Certified Master Black Belt or Thomas Pyzdek. A Green Belt understands all the aspects within D-M-A-I-C, how to perform and interpret the Six Sigma tools and use the standard principles of Lean.

The last is the Black Belt who is competent with the Six Sigma Methodology and leads improvement projects on a full-time role. The Black Belts have completed 180 hours of online training, several homework assignments, passed a comprehensive timed online exam, and presented a real-world project to the Pyzdek Institute Certified Master Black Belt or to Thomas Pyzdek. The Black Belts also understand all the aspects on D-M-A-I-C and know how to use and interpret the Six Sigma tools along with the standard principles of Lean.
